Today began as a horrible. terrible. no good. very bad day.
And I blame it entirely on Daylight Savings time.
We aren't adjusting to it well (and by we, I mean Mason) and he was a bear from the moment I tried to wake him this morning. He fought me through his diaper change, getting dressed, and getting into his carseat. He even refused to tell his Dad bye. I think I witnessed at least 3 temper tantrums within a 9 minute period. We left the house without shoes or a jacket.
As we got into the car his mood seemed to lighten a little with the promise of toddler tunes on the radio and fruit snacks for breakfast - something he's just recently discovered and a new found love!!
We made it (late) to daycare and as I was pulling him out of his carseat to walk inside, he looked straight up into the sky just as the sun was beginning to rise. He pointed towards the sun with his chubby little finger and just smiled and smiled. Actually, it was a full ear to ear grin!
I realized then, he'd never actually been up early enough to get to see a sunrise and he was amazed :) He was completely in awe and it was one of the sweetest looks I've ever seen on his face!
It seems that most of us go about our busy lives and don't even notice the everyday things around us until we see it through the purity and innocence of the eyes of a child. Thanks Mason (and I suppose Daylight Savings Time) for letting me appreciate a beautiful Indiana sunrise and turning my horrible day into a pretty darn good one:)
This wasn't taken by me, but still pretty ;)
